**If you're stuck in lethargy or idleness**, the "jump into action!" school is correct — Tony Robbins's "never leave the scene of a goal without taking massive action" breaks the inertia. Heat is the right tool when you're frozen.
**If things are broadly going well but you keep falling off your long-term initiatives**, the opposite applies. Getting more pumped up makes it worse. Instead: schedule clear time to plan how you'll carry the next goal to conclusion — and then, rather than hyping yourself, get *critical*: examine everything it requires, the downsides, and the specific points where you'll likely fall off.
The error is applying one mode universally. The frozen person who "plans and scrutinizes" stays frozen; the scattered person who "gets pumped" just adds more unfinished enthusiasm. Diagnose your state first, then pick the tool.
