A guiding principle from clinicians who work with AS: **"If you've seen one Aspie, you've seen one Aspie."**
Adults with AS demonstrate the same variability as anyone else — they brew beer, do yoga, run big businesses; are shy or love being the center of attention. AS affects how the brain works and has a powerful impact on who the person becomes, but it is only one aspect of identity.
This variability means:
- Clinicians must be very familiar with the syndrome to recognize it across different presentations
- Diagnostic criteria alone aren't sufficient — experience matters
- Input from multiple sources (the adult + people who know them well) makes verification straightforward
