Confidence and courage are separated as different resources with different failure modes: confidence is domain-specific and will predictably desert you at some point in any serious undertaking, while courage — "the guts to try" — is what's actually load-bearing when confidence runs out. "You can't be confident at everything, that's impossible, but you can have the guts to try."
The moment confidence fails is reframed from a warning sign into a location marker: it means you've reached "the edge of your comfort zone... the territory that every successful individual or warrior inhabits." Repeatedly hitting that boundary is treated as the expected, unavoidable cost of taking any path seriously, not evidence of being on the wrong path — and it's explicitly marked as something no book can substitute for: "you have to face it for yourself in the real world."
